The Full Story
It is my pleasure to introduce myself traveler. My name is Shawn De Jesus-Colon and for as long as I can remember I have struggled with my weight.
I was the kid who grew up “Husky” 😂. I would repeatedly try and fail with different weight loss methods and fad diets. I have tried everything from paleo, carnivore, keto, vegetarian, intermittent fasting (12hr, 18hr, and 23hr fast), OMAD, and any other diet you can think of. Until I landed on the truth that helped me lose weight and keep it off.
I began my journey January 8th of 2018. The last time I remember stepping on a scale prior to then I was 270lbs. I did not start a diet and exercise journey until about 6-8 months after that and I estimate my body weight (before beginning my program) to be approximately 300lbs. I dieted and exercised down to 180lbs where I have been able to maintain and live comfortably in my new skin.
I believe what separates me from the rest is that I was a formerly overweight. I understand the struggle beyond just "eat healthy and workout". I understand that weight loss and physical fitness is also a mind game and one that I have become a very proficient player in. After completing my own journey, and being able to maintain it for the past five years, I found myself being asked about how I attained and maintain a healthy lifestyle. After giving sound advice that helped many people close to me on their way to their own fitness journey's, I decided to expand my knowledge so I could reach more people and help them attain what at one point I thought was impossible.
If 5 years ago you would have told me that I would have become a NASM certified personal trainer and nutritional coach I would not have believed it. But now fitness has become a part of my life. It's so engrained that I could never see myself out of a lifestyle of fitness. I challenge you to try a fitness journey and see what beauty and physical feats you can accomplish with some guidance in healthy, nutrition, resistance training, and overall wellness.
